Lower natural gas prices, competitive commercial electricity rates, and flexible fixed-term plans for Alberta businesses.

Winter is approaching, and with colder temperatures comes higher heating demand and potentially higher operating expenses. For Alberta businesses, now is a good time to review electricity rates, natural gas prices, and available energy plans before winter market conditions change.

At 8760, we help Alberta businesses take control of their energy expenses. For over 20 years, we've been helping organizations find opportunities to optimize their commercial electricity supply, natural gas costs, and other operational expenses.

What's Changing in November 2026?

1. Lower Natural Gas Prices for Small Businesses

We're reducing our small commercial natural gas rates by up to $0.40/GJ compared with October. Our November rates now start at $3.68/GJ for a 1-year fixed term and $3.88/GJ for a 2-year fixed term. If your business currently uses a variable natural gas plan, this could be a good opportunity to compare gas pricing and consider whether a fixed rate would provide greater cost certainty ahead of winter.

Natural gas prices can fluctuate with market conditions and seasonal demand. Choosing between a fixed and variable plan depends on your business's budget, energy consumption, and appetite for price fluctuations.

2. Small Business Electricity Rates: A Slight Adjustment

Our small commercial electricity rates have increased slightly by 0.10¢/kWh across each contract term compared with October. November electricity rates start at:

  • 7.78¢/kWh for a 1-year fixed term

  • 8.18¢/kWh for a 2-year fixed term

These rates remain below Alberta's current Rate of Last Resort (RoLR), which ranges from 12.01¢ to 12.06¢/kWh across the province.

If your business electricity bill shows "Regulated Services" or "Rate of Last Resort," it may be worth comparing your current electricity price with available competitive options.
